Actor Harrison Ford sent everyone into shock, including fans, friends and family, when he took one of his action-star scenes off-screen and performed an emergency crash-landing of the vintage WW2 plane he was piloting.

The 72-year old experienced engine failure shortly after take-off and clipped at least one tree before the plane finally crashed into a nearby golf-course, leaving Ford bloody and “battered.”

While witnesses on the scene stated he had obvious lacerations to his head, news outlets later reported he had broken bones and underwent surgery to repair a broken ankle and broken pelvis while his son tweeted out, ““At the hospital. Dad is ok. Battered, but ok! He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man.”

On Sunday March 8, Chef Ben Ford once again took to his Twitter to reassure fans his father was okay, “We want to thank you all for your concern. Dad has the best care possible, on the mend of strong mind body and spirit.”

The tweet was deleted soon after it was posted, but it sounds as though Ford is just fine as he was reported in fair condition only hours after the incident. His publicist has not offered any updates since. Ford is an experienced flyer and has been involved in several real-life rescue missions. Many believe the accident was in no way due to his mistakes or a case of risky flying, “It looks like he did a really good job under the circumstances,” Col. Stephen Ganyward told ABC News.
