Kate Middleton Launches New Photography Project On Instagram

Kate Middleton has launched a new photography project on the Kensington Royal Instagram account!

In collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery, the Duchess is challenging U.K. citizens to send in photos that capture the spirit and the feelings across the U.K at this time. Participants are also encouraged to include a short written submission to outline the experience, emotion, and inspiration behind the photograph.

The one hundred most poignant submissions from the challenge will be featured in a virtual exhibit called, “Hold Still,” which will be launched in August. The project will focus on three core themes: Helpers and Heroes; Your New Normal; and Acts of Kindness.

“We’ve all been struck by some of the incredible images we’ve seen which have given us an insight into the experiences and stories of people across the country,” Kate says in a statement. “Some desperately sad images showing the human tragedy of this pandemic and other uplifting pictures showing people coming together to support those more vulnerable.”

“’Hold Still’ aims to capture a portrait of the nation, the spirit of the nation, what everyone is going through at this time. Photographs reflecting resilience, bravery, kindness – all those things that people are experiencing.”

Kate will play a large role in curating the final photographs and has shared they will be assessed based on experience and emotion, not quality or photography expertise.
