Soap Operas Can Resume Production On June 12

Great news for soap fans — California health department officials have given the green light for television and film productions to resume on June 12.

California Governor Gavin Newsom had announced in a statement on June 5 that filming could resume but there had been some confusion surrounding it, as it would need to be approved by county. This left filming start dates on The Bold And The Beautiful (B&B), Days Of Our Lives (DOOL), General Hospital (GH) and The Young and The Restless (Y&R) up in the air.

“Productions, cast, crew and other industry workers should abide by safety protocols agreed by labor and management, which may be further enhanced by county public health officers,” the governor’s statement said. “Back office staff and management should adhere to Office Workspace guidelines published by the California Department of Public Health and the California Department of Industrial Relations.”

The film and television industry will have to closely follow required protocols that are to be released today, according to Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer.

All four North American soaps halted production in mid-March. B&B and Y&R have been airing classic episodes since late April and GH since mid-May. But when will fans get to see new episodes of B&B, GH and Y&R? Stay tuned!
