As fans begin to mourn the passing of John Aniston, Days Of Our Lives (DOOL) co-stars are reaching out with tributes to the late actor.

It’s only been a few hours since Aniston’s daughter, Jennifer, broke the news over Instagram, but fans and colleagues are coping with the sudden loss of this daytime drama icon.

“John was funny and sharp and an inspiration to all of us,” Martha Madison (Belle) wrote on Twitter.

“You always knew you were going to laugh a lot when you had scenes with him,” Madison added. “Sending my love to his fans, friends and family.”

Arianne Zucker (Nicole) also highlighted the man’s swift comedic sensibilities.

“I have nothing but incredible memories of a man who was so professional at his job and always walked in with the best jokes,” Zucker wrote on Instagram. “No one could tell a joke like John!”

While Madison and Zucker recalled Aniston’s sense of humor, co-star Eric Martsolf (Brady) reflected on the man’s remarkable work ethic.

“I will miss this gentle giant so much. He reminded me that ‘work’ can be ‘play’,” Martsolf wrote on Instagram. “Thank you Grandpa Vic for allowing me to play with you over the years.”

“Rest in peace, John. I will miss you,” DOOL alum Kyle Lowder wrote on his Instagram stories. “Thank you for everything.”

“Awww man… RIP John,” Bold and the Beautiful star Darin Brooks (Wyatt) wrote on Twitter. “You were one of the greats!”

In perhaps the most moving tribute so far, Bill and Susan Hayes (Doug and Julie) penned some thoughts on their colleague’s passing.

“A tall tree has fallen in the forest of imagination, where we wander in memory for the pleasure of recalling moments and people we love,” they wrote on Instagram.

“Thank you, John, for decades of drama that were mostly a dream – and days of delight that were as real as could be,” the message continued. “Sleep well.”

DOOL’s official social media channel is also still processing the news. “Our hearts are broken over the loss of our beloved family member John Aniston,” the statement read. “We love you, John. Your legend will live on.”

Other soap stars couldn’t even find the words, as Mike Manning (Charlie) and Krista Allen (B&B‘s Taylor) sent heartbroken emoticons.
