After only four years of marriage, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Foster and her husband David Foster, 66, announced they were divorcing on Tuesday, Dec. 1, saying in a joint statement: “Sadly we have decided to go our separate ways. During that time we experienced love, friendship and the inevitable challenged that come with managing a marriage, careers, blended families and healthy issues.”

Shortly after the announcement, Yolanda, 51, responded to the news in a statement, reading, “We are grateful for the years we’ve spent together and believe wholeheartedly that we did our best. I hope that we can pave the road ahead of us with all we’ve learned and with the love and respect we will always have for one another.”

As the split seems amicable, sources are indicating that Yolanda’s battle with Lyme disease and David’s hectic schedule were factors in the decision to divorce. On Monday, just before they made the announcement, Yolanda hinted at changes in her life, posting an Instagram photo of a penguin diving into water and captioning, “This is so cute, it reminded me that sometimes you just have to jump and trust you will land in the right place… #LifeForce.

After the news was widely reported Yolanda’s co-star Kyle Richards told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that, while the divorce was “in some ways a surprise,” she did think that they had been “struggling in their marriage.”
